As mentioned before many times over, we are big fans of Farrow & Ball paint. Well, now there is a new and exciting alternative to Farrow & Ball products. Century by Benjamin Moore is a brand new interior painting product which offers amazing color depth (what we love most about the English company), and it also feels incredibly soft and smooth to the touch.
Benjamin Moore poured its heart and soul, and many years of research and developing, into creating a product that would satisfy customers who are seeking true and unique color depth. The only way to deliver such promise is by premixing each paint can directly at their own factory/workshops or at a very few independently-owned supply stores (currently there are only three authorized dealers, and more should be coming up by August 2017).
First things first. What’s a neutral color? To most neutral colors are beiges and whites, or any “light” color. But in actuality, neutrals are colors that don’t show up on the color wheel. That is whites, grays, blacks, and some beiges and browns.
One of the main advantages of painting your home with neutrals is that they look fabulous with any style (contemporary, modern, traditional, etc.). They are also timeless, so if you decide to change your furnishings or decor at any moment, you really would not necessarily need to change your wall color. You basically cannot go wrong.

After lots and lots of research here in the US and overseas, the Benjamin Moore design team has chosen Shadow 2117-30 as their color of the year 2017. Inspired largely by art around the globe, and in the violet family, Shadow is a mysterious, occult yet nostalgic color. We expect this color to be very popular this upcoming year.
Shadow would be absolutely stunning in a powder room. Also consider brushing this color with oil Satin Impervo on walls and trim to create an everlasting and sophisticated feel to your space.

In partnership with Traditional Home, Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans worked side by side to host the 2016 Southern Style Showhouse Now. As some of you might know, Jason Bertoniere Painting Contractor participated in the interior painting restoration aspect of the project. Specifically, we were assigned to paint the living room, designed by Shaun Smith, of the Traditional Home Southern Style Showhouse back in May.
On a phone interview with Preservation in Print, Jason Bertoniere explains the role of painting in terms of restoration and historic preservation and the importance of combining “old painting methods” with modern techniques and trends.
The article, which was published in their September 2016 issue Keeping Old World Methods Alive, covers the changes in paint products and application techniques over the years. In terms of restoration specifically, Preservation in Print discusses how paint product, painting techniques, and skill level are key to maintaining historic homes’ original “glory”–looking the same as they did when they were first built.
Most of the high-gloss Fine Paints of Europe projects we have been a part of consisted of Fine Paints of Europe on the walls, ceiling, and trim with a monochromatic color scheme. This time, however, the homeowners of this fabulous New Orleans Lower Garden District home opted for something a little different.
Looking to put the “cherry on top” to their already beautifully decorated formal living and dining room, the homeowners combined our two favorite looks into one. As it turns out, brushed Satin Impervo oil and Fine Paints of Europe high-gloss create an exquisite, sophisticated duo.
The Minute you start thinking about painting your home, the first two things that comes to mind are color and painting contractor–both with big question marks. Seldom people think: “I wonder what paint sheen should I use? You are probably wondering how this is even relevant? As a matter of a fact, sheen will play a big roll on color, durability, and light reflectivity.
Let’s start with color. Depending upon what sheen you choose, your color will look slightly different to the naked-eye. For this reason, always be sure to ask your local painting contractor for color samples to be made of the actual sheen you are considering using–if possible.
In choosing a sheen, durability is probably the biggest determining factor to most homeowners ready to paint their house. High sheen paints–like semi-gloss, gloss, or high-gloss paint–are much more durable than low sheen paints–like flat, egg-shell, and satin paint. We will discuss below durability aspects in a little more detail.

Every year TRADITIONAL HOME sponsors a National Showhouse Tour. Each room of the selected house is allocated to different local designers and artisans. This year New Orleans will be a host city for the first time ever! A beautiful home located at 7618 St Charles Ave, New Orleans will be the showhouse. Local designer, Shaun Smith, has chosen our company to work along side with his team to bring his vision for the living room to life.
If you would like to tour this fabulously designed home, you can do so during the open house from May 19th to June 12th!

One of the best things about being a painting contractor is that we get to work alongside very creative people all the way through the end of a project. Other trades in the industry seldom get to see a finished space. We, on other hand, always do!

CornForth White 228 by Farrow&Ball (75%).
This color was used on a boy’s room. A light color was chosen with the intention of making the room feel bigger.
A monochromatic color scheme was implemented in this space, which also created a greater spacious effect. The ceiling has CornForth White tinted to 50%, walls are at 75% and the trim is at 100%.
